Causes and consequences of being overweight

Your weight is determine by how to balance the intake of calories from food with the energy you use in everyday actiities , if you consume more calories than you use , you will gain weight which usually lead to been overweight as you body stores calories you do not need for energy as fat.
Generally overeating and lack of physical activity are the main causes of overweight probelms
Your Eating Habits
Consumption of high calorie food such as fast food , contributes to weight gain as high fast foods are dense in calories .Also loading up on soft drinks ,candy and desserts also promotes weight gains as food and beverages like this are high in calories .
Your Lifestyle : Your lifestyle also affect you in getting overweight , as sedentary people are more likely to to gain weight becuase they do not burn calories through physiccal exercise .
Psychological Factors : People sometimes overeat to deal with difficult emotions and to cope with various problems that affect mankind daily
Overwight can also results from an eating disorder for example binging for some people releases natural opiates in the brain ,providing a sense of well being and physical pleasure .
Genetics
If your parents are overweight , your chances of being overweight increase by about 25 % to 30 %.Your genes may affect the number of body fat you store and where that fat is distributed in your body but generally your genetics may not necessarily make you to be overweight.
sex- Your sex is also an important factot that may cause one to be overweight , as men with more muscles than women tend to burn fat at a greater number than women as muscles burn a greater number of calories than fat burns .Men expend up to 20% more calories than women do even at rest .
Age : Age is also an important factor that causes one to be overweight because as one get older the muscles in your body tend to decrease and fat account for a greater percentage of your weight. as it lead to a decrease in body metabolism .Metabolism generally slows naturally with age . If ypu do not decrease your calorie intake as you grow older , you are possibly going to gain weight and become overweight .
Cigarette smoking :- Smokers gain weight after quiting .The weight gain may be partially due to nicotine's ability to raise the rate at which your body burns calories (metabolic rate ) When smokers stop smoking ,the burn less calories henc emaking them to gian weight . Smoking also affect taste and smokers generally eat more when they stop smoking.
Pregnancy :- After each pregnancy , a woman is bound to gain weight with an average of 4 to 6 pounds over her pre prenancy weight .This weightggian may contribute to the development of obesity in women .
Medical Problems:- Overweight problems can also be trace to medical cause such as low thyroid function,excess production of hormones by the adrenal glands and other hormonal imbalnces . Also a low metabloc rate is rarely a cause of overweight .Medical problems may also lead to decreased activity resulting in weight gain.
